February 25th - DONE - FERTIG

We made it. We are finally moved in and I am typing these lines from our new house. Enjoy some of the pictures we took...

Wir haben es geschafft. Endlich sind wir eingezogen und ich schreibe diesen Eintrag in unserem neuen Haus. Hier ein paar Bilder.

February 17th - Nearly Done - Fast fertig

First of all: Sorry for no updates in the last weeks, we have been very busy due to Chinese New Years.

The good news is that we will be having our final walk through as scheduled on this Friday, February 19th.

The house is nearly done, minor things need to get fixed and we will be good to go.

Als erstes möchten wir uns für die "Funkstille" in den letzen Wochen entschuldigen. Auf Grund des Chinesischen Neujahrs hatten wir alle Hände voll zu tun.

Die gute Nachricht ist das wir am Freitag den 19. Februar unsere offizielle Hausübergabe haben werden. Das Haus ist beinahe fertig, nur ein paar kleinere Details müssen noch ausgebessert werden.

January 29th - Tiles and cobble stone installed - Fliesen und Steine fertig

Now the front of the house looks nearly as we planned it. The cobble stone and the garage door make it seem nearly ready, doesn't it? On the inside the tiles in the bottom floor are put in and you can also the the granite in the kitchen. To celebrate this success we went out and got ourselves some nice furniture for the living room today.

Nun sind die Steine rund um die Garage und den Eingang angebracht und auch das Garagentor ist installiert. Im Haus wurden die Fliesen verlegt und die Arbeitsplatten in der Küche angebracht. Um diesen Erfolg zu feiern sind wir heute in ein Möbelhaus gefahren um die passenden Möbel für das Wohnzimmer zu kaufen.

January 26th - Driveway and cabinets - Einfahrt und Küche

Finally we have received our driveway and we can by now actually pull into our own garage. Also the cabinets for the kitchen and the bathrooms were delivered and getting installed. We also saw the granite laying around, very exciting.

Endlich haben wir unsere Einfahrt erhalten und können nun bereits in unserer Garage parken. Die Schränke für die Küche und Badezimmer wurden ebenfalls geliefert und eingebaut. Es beginnt nun die ganze Arbeit an den Details im Haus, es wird also sehr spannend.

January 22nd - More painting done - Es wurde noch mehr gestrichen

Now also the accent colors are up. The outside painting was stopped a bit by nearly two full day of rain and snow here in Vegas. Crazy weather which we hope we are done with for now - we are still waiting for the sun to return

Nun sind auch weitere Farben am Haus. Durch 2 Tage Dauerregen und Schnee (ja, Schnee) hat sich dies ein wenig verschoben. Hoffentlich hat sich das Wetter nun beruhigt und wir warten nun alle gespannt auf die Sonne.

January 20th - The house is getting painted, again... - Das Haus bekommt Farbe, Teil 2

So, we came back and now found the house in the color we actually ordered, a very pleasant surprise. We also checked back to see if this would move our move-in date back, but it will not, so we are still on track

Heute hat das Haus nun endlich die Farbe die wir ausgesucht haben was uns natürlich sehr freut. Wir fanden auch heraus dass dies unseren Einzugstermin nicht verschieben wird, also geht es weiter wie geplant.

January 19th - The house is getting painted - Das Haus bekommt Farbe

After the weekend we finally got he house painted and it is starting to look like we imagined, or is it? We also got the doors to our house, also the baseboards were installed (to be later removed again when the floor is going to be installed).

We also met with the landscaper to discuss the layout of the yard as well as with the supplier of our blinds.

After long discussions and a lot of walking around the house we came to the conclusion that the color of the house is not what we imagined, so we made a quick trip to the sales office to check our contract and the ordered color scheme. We came to find out that the painter had painted the house in the WRONG color and it was way to dark. So, lets wait and see whats going to happen

Nach dem Wochenende wurde das Haus nun endlich von aussen angestrichen und es sieht immer mehr so aus wie wir es uns vorgestellt haben, oder?

Zusätzlich haben wir auch unsere Türen und Fussleisten erhalten, die Fussleisten wurden eingebaut und werden, wenn Teppich und Fliesen kommen wieder abgemacht um dann danach wieder dran gemacht zu werden - verstehe wer will.

Auch der Gärtner was da um den Garten mit uns zu besprechen, es geht also voran.

Nach längeren Diskussion zwischen uns beiden kamen wir zu der Entscheidung dass das Haus doch nicht so aussieht wie wir es uns vorgestellt hatten und somit gingen wir zu dem Verkaufs Büro und fragten nach unserem Vertrag und der Farbauswahl die wir getroffen haben. Dort fanden wir dann heraus dass das Haus in der FALSCHEN Farbe angestrichen wurde. Nun heisst es abwarten...

January 15th - Looks like a house - Sieht fast fertig aus

After our little vacation to Germany, where we had a lot of snow by the way, we got back to our house and were amazed to see that not only the stucco on the outside is up, but also all walls on the inside are up and good to go.

Tomorrow, January 16th, the texture inside the house will be completed and it will be nearly ready to move in.

Final walk through is scheduled for February 19th, so around one month from now. This should then also be the date we will be receiving the keys, if not, a few days later.

Nach unserem Urlaub in Deutschland waren wir sehr erfreut unser Haus mit verputzten Außenwänden zu sehen als wir zurück kamen. Auch innen sind die Wände alle fertig so dass morgen auch dort verputzt werden kann.

Am 19. Februar findet dann der letzte Kontrollgang mit dem Bauunternehmen statt, welcher dann hoffentlich mit der Schlüsselübergabe endet. Also nur noch einen Monat bis wir umziehen können.

January 5th - Walls are done from the outside - Außenwände stehen

When we went back today we were surprised to see the progress. The entire house is now insulated from the outside and it looks even more like a real house. They are eagerly working on insulating it from the inside now. Also all plugs are installed and we are just waiting for the walls on the inside.

Als wir heute wieder zu der Baustelle gefahren sind waren wir sehr über den Fortschritt erfreut. Das gesamte Haus ist nun von außen isuliert und alle Steckdosen, Schalter, etc sind installiert. Nun müssen die Wände von innen isuliert werden.

January 1st - Windows and Wires - Fenster und Kabel

During the last days of 2009 we received all of our windows as well as all the wires. All plugs, lights, speakers, etc were prewired so that we can now wait for the walls to go up.

In den letzen Tagen des Jahres 2009 haben wir alle Fenster so wie die gesamte Verkabelung installiert bekommen. Nun können endlich die Außenwände kommen.
