December 22nd - second floor done - 1. Stock fertig

After the weekend construction continued at the usual fast pace and so we found the second floor and the framing for the roof complete. As we had some visitors from Phoenix in town we were ablet o welcome them to our new home and give them a little tour of our new castle. With Christmas coming up, we do expect the plumbing and basic wiring to get finished before the holiday and the roof to be insulated by the end of the week.

Nach dem Wochenende gingen die Bauarbeiten in gewohntem Tempo weiter und so fanden wir den 1. Sotck und den Rahmen des Daches fertig vor als wir wieder vorbeischauten. Da wir Bescuh aus Phoenix da hatten, konnten wir zum ersten Mal Besucher in unserem Shcloß empfangen. Da nun Weihnachten ansteht erwarten wir das nur alle Rohre für Wasser und die einfachen Stromverkabelungen installiert werden. Nach den Feiertagen geht es dann weiter.

December 19th - 2nd floor started - Bau am 2. Stock beginnt

After the first floor was completed we now got our staircase and were able to walk upstairs for the first time. No walls or anything else have been put up yet on the second floor, but this is about to come.

Nachdem das Erdgeschoss fertig ist haben wir nun unsere Treppe erhalten und es war uns zum ersten Mal möglich nach 'oben' zu gehen. Dort stehen allerdings noch keine Wände, aber ein Anfang ist ja schonmal gemacht.

December 17th - Ground floor complete - Erdgeschoss fertig

Construction is moving along very quickly and the ground floor was just finished. We are now waiting on the stairs to be put in so that the construction for the second floor can begin.

Die Bauarbeiten verlaufen nach Plan und das Erdgeschoss ist nun fertiggestellt. Wir warten nun darauf dass die Treppe eingesetzt wird um dann mit dem zweiten Stock beginnen zu können.

December 16th - Framing started - Der Rahmen wurde begonnen

Since we had an appointment with our landscaper at the lot we drove out there again last night not expecting anything to have happened but found that the construction of the frame had started already. As seen the foundation had just dried off and already the living room is done and Amber is looking out the kitchen window. The front wall is still missing, so is the frame for the garage, but it gives a good idea of the dimensions of the house.

Da wir einen Termin mit dem Landschaftbauer hatten, fuhren wir zu unserem Grundstück, allerdings ohne einen Fortschritt zu erwarten da das Fundament ja gerade erst gegossen wurde. Zu unserem Erstaunen fanden wir bereits einen Teil des Erdgeschosses fertig, es fehlt noch der Rahmen zu Garage und die Haustür. Amber kann aber schon aus dem Küchenfenster in den Garten gucken, oder in das WC gehen.

December 15th - Foundation is done - Fundament ist gegossen

After the weekend we finally managed to get our foundation done and are now waiting for it to dry without any rain interrupting this process. As seen in the picture the foundation is still being worked on, nevertheless it should be good to move to the next step in the building process tomorrow.

Nach einem trockenen Wochenende war es uns nun endlich möglich das Fundament zu giessen und nun hoffen wir das kein Regen diesen Prozess unterbricht. Wie man in dem Bild sehen kann wird noch an dem Fundament gearbeitet, man hofft aber das morgen schon mit dem Rahmen angefangen werden kann.

December 11th - All ready for the foundation - Das Fundament kann nun gegossen werden

The foundation can finally be poured after the blue wires were installed in the frame. These wires serve as a kind of suspension system for the foundation and help to avoid cracks throughout the upcoming years. With the weather being not as good, we now have to wait until there is a few days without the chance of rain.

Nachdem die blauen Kabel nun in dem Rahmen installiert wurden, kann das Fundament nun endlich gegossen werden. Die blauen Kabel dienen als eine Art Federung für das Fundament und sollen Risse und Brüche des Fundaments verhindern. Nun warten wir auf ein paar Tage mit niedriger Regenwahrscheinlichkeit um dann los zu legen.

Finally something going on - Endlich geht es los

After we had the meeting with the contractor yesterday we went back to day to take a look at our lot and were amazed about the progress in our new neighborhood. The houses to the left and right of us already got there frame, we are still waiting for the foundation to be poured. This will happen either tomorrow or in the beginning of next week, followed by the frame for the first floor a few days later. Finally there is progress, check back more often now to be up to date.

Nachdem wir gestern unseren Termin mit dem Bauunternehmer hatten sind wir heute wieder zu unserem Grundstück gefahren und waren schwer über den Fortschritt in unserer neuen Nachbarschaft erstaunt. Unsere Nachbarn haben bereits den Rahmen für das Erdgeschoss erhalten, wir warten noch darauf dass das Fundament gegossen wird. Dies passiert entweder morgen oder am Anfang nächster Woche, darauf folgt dann auch der Rahmen bei uns. Nun geht

es endlich los, schaut ab jetzt öfter vorbei, ein Hausbau in Vegas geht schnell.

Start Date is Confirmed - Bald geht es los

After we have visited our empty lot several times now, we finally got the start date for construction: December 9th. We are very excited to see some progress starting then and we will start the countdown. Talking about countdown: We also decorated our apartment for Christmas - see what happened below....

Nachdem wir nun mehrmals an dem leeren Grundstück vorbeigefahren sind, haben wir nun endlich unseren Starttermin erhalten: 09. Dezember 2009 geht es los. Wir koennen es kaum erwarten. Und da Weihnachten nun vor der Tür steht, haben wir auch unsere Wohnung dekoriert, hier is wie das aussieht:
